Our heritage
is in butter & flour
From our beginnings as Southland’s Millar family bakery early last century, QFS has become a world class supplier of frozen pastry, croissants & danish, cookies and sauces to local and off-shore markets.
Today we are a manufacturing bakery selling frozen pastry products via a network of distributors locally and overseas.
Our pastries and sauces have been the product of choice in Japan since we began exporting in the ‘80’s. We are proud to call National retailers and Foodservice suppliers across Asia our partners of 30 years, or more.
Today we continue investing in product development, adding a new range of frozen pre-proved, ready to bake croissants & Danish, and mouth watering cookies to our highly sought after pastry and croissants range.
State of the art technology such as our Fritsch pastry line support development of a wide range of products to the highest standard.
But it is our people who are our biggest asset. A passionate team of skilled bakers with 100’s of years of combined experience baking for you, everyday.

Today
We are QFS New Zealand, the country’s leading manufacturer of butter based bakery products and sauces and the largest exporter of butter pastry in New Zealand.

Environment matters
We believe developing environmentally sustainable business practices is a vital step toward increasing our competitive advantage, and value proposition.”
More than ever, our customers are making decisions about what products to buy not just based on cost and quality, but also other factors including how eco-friendly they are.
With a strong export base QFS have always understood the value of sourcing the inputs for our business from within New Zealand, where possible. Our frozen pastry, croissants and sauces, are made with New Zealand grown wheat flour, butter and ethically sourced ingredients.
Other Inclusions and ingredients are ethically sourced and traceable to their origins.
Reducing or eliminating plastic where possible has also been a priority. We switched our Foodservice pastry roll ‘plastic interleave’ to a sustainably produced recyclable paper. This switch has eliminated around 400km of single use plastic from the environment in NZ.
We aim to use cartons made from 100% recycled material where possible. Our pastry rolls in New Zealand have recently switched across, with 1,000’s of cartons now utilising ‘recycled cardboard’.
More changes to come as we look for economic options to migrate from plastic to paper based, sustainable options. We are also working closely with our suppliers, asking them to do the same to reduce waste and our combined carbon footprints.
Energy and Carbon footprint:
As an exporter there will always be a carbon footprint associated with shipping our products from New Zealand to customers in South East Asia.
What we can influence; 80% of Energy use in our manufacturing Plant is from electric powered equipment. NZ generates 80% of it’s Power using renewable Energy production, thus providing a very clean processing site. NZ is currently the 3rd best in the world for clean energy generation. Our clean green image is something we can be proud of.
